Everything The Awkward Social offers is built around one simple truth — being social is hard for autistic and neurodivergent young people, and most spaces online and off don’t make room for that. We do. Here’s exactly what that looks like.
Supervised Gaming Sessions
Your child is never alone in an unregulated space — and our hosts aren’t just watching. They’re there to play, chat, and help friendships actually happen.
- Fortnite and Minecraft, Monday–Thursday, 4:30–5:30 pm
- Friday is movie night instead, from 4:30 pm
- Hosts drop in, play alongside members, and keep an eye out for drama so everyone’s genuinely enjoying themselves
- Quieter breakout spaces available if the main room feels like too much — always staffed, never unsupervised one-on-one
- Every session hosted by a trained, DBS-checked moderator
- Every session is human, and AI-moderated — a trusted adult is always present
- A closed, private platform — no public rooms, no strangers can find or join
- A reporting channel every member is shown how to use from day one

Out of Hours
Being part of The Awkward Social doesn’t switch off when a session ends.
Our Out-of-Hours channel is open every day, any time outside scheduled sessions — for members who want to keep chatting or playing together. It’s AI-moderated around the clock rather than by a person, so we’re upfront about what that means: no direct messaging, no file sharing, no links can be posted, and every conversation is timestamped. A reporting channel is always open too.
Every member joins through a verified onboarding process — so whoever your child is talking to in that channel is always another verified Awkward Social member, never an anonymous stranger. And because every account belongs to a known, real person, if something ever did go wrong, we know who’s involved and can act on it.
It’s not the same as a hosted session — but it’s a lot safer than being alone and unsupervised on Roblox, Fortnite, or Minecraft outside The Awkward Social altogether.
A Welcome Like No Other
Before your child joins a single session, we get to know them. Their diagnosis, their sensitivities, what they love, what they find hard. We match them with the right group and the right games.
And we tell them something important from day one — it’s completely okay to just watch and listen until you’re ready. No pressure. Ever.
Movie Nights
Every week we host a Teleparty movie night. Members can request what they want to watch.
Got a favourite film? Want to watch something with a friend you’ve made in the community? Just ask. As long as it’s age-appropriate and available on a major streaming platform, we’ll make it happen.
Birthdays
We know that neurodivergent young people are often the ones who don’t get invited. Who watch other kids celebrate together.
Not here. In The Awkward Social we make a big deal of every single birthday. Because everyone deserves to feel special and celebrated.
Parent Community
You’re not just buying your child a safe space. You’re joining a community yourself.

Real World Events
Friendships that start in a Fortnite lobby or a Minecraft server deserve a chance to become real ones — not just usernames in a chat window. That’s what real world events are for.
Sporting events, family meetups, the Awkward Kickabout. We’ve taken young people to Premier League football, Twickenham, Wembley, Formula E, NBA London and more.
- Events are announced and priced separately, so you only pay for what you choose to join
- What we provide is the trained, familiar support staff who make attendance actually possible for a neurodivergent young person — often standing alongside a friendship that began online
